Energetic use of agricultural residues

In times of climate change and increasing natural disasters, it is more important than ever to drive forward the energy transition. The expansion of renewable energies and the sustainable use of resources is of the utmost importance. To achieve this goal, agricultural residues are increasingly being used to generate energy. However, many plant operators face a number of challenges with substrates that are usually difficult to break down. At Lehmann-UMT, we have the solution for optimizing or realigning your biogas plant. With the help of Bioextrusion by Lehmann, a wide range of substrates such as straw, by-products or solid manure can be used cost-effectively and sustainably for biogas production.

Increased gas yield and cost efficiency

The process of bioextrusion by LEHMANN is based on mechanical disintegration. As a result, a steam explosion process takes place, whereby the biological starting material is partially defibered down to the cell structure.

The million-fold increase in the surface area of the substrate ensures accelerated hydrolysis, improves the degree of digestion and at the same time shortens the retention time in the fermenter. The extruded material has a greater water absorption capacity, which prevents the formation of floating layers.

The fermentation substrate is distributed almost optimally in the working volume of the fermenter, resulting in considerable savings in stirring energy and the associated costs. Another significant benefit of the technology is the increase in biogas yield by up to 20 %, depending on the material and composition.

Tailor-made solution for every application

From laboratory extruders for research purposes to 240 kW extruders, Lehmann-UMT offers systems specially designed for customers' applications. The bioextruder is particularly easy to maintain and service and impresses with its long service life. A large number of customers around the world are already using them, achieving running times of up to 22 hours per day. The counter-rotating screws inside the system have a modular design so that they can be replaced individually in the event of wear. In addition to the extruder, the company's product portfolio also includes feeding technology. Metal parts and the majority of stones are sorted out using the detector belt. An optional screw feeder ensures uniformity.
