The feeding technology acts as a feed system for the extruder. Belt conveyors are used upstream of the extruder, while screw conveyors or similar systems are used downstream of the extruder. The system ensures a continuous material flow, thus increasing output rates and reducing downtime. The feeding technology consists of special conveyor systems that are equipped with additional options.
Depending on the material and the nature of the biomass used, our feeding systems are equipped with an all-metal detection system in the form of a detector. The system detects metallic objects contained in the transported material and removes them from the process. This protects your extruder, as the high temperatures (in the extrusion process) between the screws mean that any metal that gets in would immediately weld to the screw. The damaged screw modules must then be replaced. With insertion technology from Lehmann, you can prevent this and ensure safe, trouble-free processes and maximum machine availability.
Technical details:
An additional option with which the system is equipped is the so-called stone separator. This detects stones in the transported material and removes them from the process by tilting the conveyor belt. Although stones up to a certain size are crushed in the extruder, they still cause considerable wear on the screw segments.
